FAQs
Because we provide relationship-led care, we carefully match Care Professionals and clients based on personalities, interests, and hobbies. Furthermore, we prioritize continuity for both client and Care Professional, fostering meaningful relationships that make the job even more fulfilling. Moreover, all visits are at least one hour long, ensuring ample time for high-quality care and client interaction. Finally, joining the Home Instead family gives you the best of both worlds: the benefits of a small, community-based business combined with over 25 years of global expertise in exceptional home care.
Whether you’re new to care or haven’t worked professionally in the field, we welcome individuals from all backgrounds who demonstrate strong values, enthusiasm, and empathy. While care experience is helpful, it’s not essential. We provide comprehensive training, equipping our Care Professionals with the skills to deliver confident and competent care, ensuring they can take pride in the high-quality service they provide.
Our Care Professionals receive award-winning, industry-leading training, giving them the confidence, knowledge, and skills to care for our clients. This fully paid training ranges from basic moving and handling to City & Guilds assured Dementia and End of Life training, as well as City & Guilds preferred provider Parkinson’s courses. Furthermore, we offer opportunities to gain industry-recognised qualifications, such as Levels 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care, and more. Consequently, as a Care Pro at Home Instead, you’ll receive complete support through a program of bespoke training and ongoing education, including opportunities to gain specialist knowledge and advance your career.
We support our clients with all aspects of daily living, enabling them to flourish and maintain independence at home. Our care services range from personal care, such as assistance with bathing, dressing, and grooming, to home help, including preparing nutritious meals and tidying. Additionally, we offer companionship calls for chatting and engaging with clients, transportation to events or appointments, and even overnight or live-in care.
A driving licence is essential, as some of our clients live in rural areas and need help getting to appointments. However, in certain locations (London, for example), we do consider applications from walkers and cyclists. It’s best to give your local office a ring to double-check before you apply.
Lots of our Care Professionals progress to other roles within Home Instead, as we prefer to promote from within. You’ll have regular chats with your manager to discuss your development and your future goals with the company. In fact, many of our key team members, and even a couple of our owners, began their Home Instead careers as Care Pros – so there’s no limit to how far you can go!
We offer our team members the option of flexible or Guaranteed Minimum Hours contracts. While many of our Care Pros prefer the flexibility of their existing contracts, allowing them to work around other commitments, we understand that guaranteed hours are important to some. Therefore, we’re happy to offer a choice, depending on individual needs and client requirements.
A key part of our mission is to be the employer of choice. To achieve this, we offer fair pay, exceeding the national living wage, with many offices also paying the real living wage.
Yes, a criminal record check (DBS in England and Wales, PVG in Scotland) is a mandatory requirement before you can work in care.
After applying, your local office will contact you for an informal chat about the role and to learn more about you. Next, you’ll be invited for a face-to-face interview and assessment. Following this, we’ll complete the necessary compliance checks (DBS/PVG), which can sometimes take a little time. However, we’ll handle all the behind-the-scenes preparations so you can start as soon as possible. In fact, our recent employee survey showed that 93% of our Care Pros rated our recruitment process as outstanding.
